Hawse pipes are installed to allow chains and lines to pass through hulls and decks seamlessly without doing a number on the paint. They are currently available in lots of styles to meet the varying needs and wants of boaters. Some models feature spring-loaded or chain-mounted lids. They are better known as chain and rope deck pipes. Some brands such as Sea Dog, White Water, Seachoice, and many others also offer models with a hinged, snap-down cover. All units with or without a lid are available in two shapes: oval and round. Hawse pipes can be also triangular. The choice is entirely up to you.
You can also choose from a variety of materials. Typically, manufacturers use brass, bronze, stainless steel, and zinc to make their products.
