Sometimes it can be difficult for a mariner to cope with an emergency situation alone. Malfunctions, storms, a fire or a leak, some serious injuries that require qualified medical care may become a challenge. Radio beacons are indispensable in this case. They transmit a distress call, so that rescuers can assist the vessel in trouble. Our store offers a wide variety of EPIRBs and PLBs to ensure your safety coming back on land.
Although a Personal Location Beacon, or PLB, performs the same functions as an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon, or EPIRB, they differ in certain characteristic features. PLBs are carried on and registered to a person, while EPIRBs are registered to a vessel. That’s why Personal Location Beacons are quite small and light, and may be used during the sea trip as well as on land. Both kinds of distress radio beacons are available for our customers on the digital shelves of our web store. We offer automatic and manual radio beacons to meet your requirements. Automatic ones are activated when they contact with water. In our store, you can purchase PLBs with or without GPS. The GPS interface will help the rescuers find your location guiding them to your place as fast as possible. As these signaling devices are quite compact, you can store a PLB inside a life jacket, carry it in a pocket or clip it to a backpack. The battery life is another important feature to take into account, especially when the rescuers require more time to save a person. Our devices can transmit a distress signal up to 36 hours.
