A marine VHF radio is among the primary means of communication between vessels, USCG, and other objects located on the coast. Its wide operating range, access to NOAA weather forecasts, and other benefits make VHF radio more preferable than a mobile phone or CB radio, but you have to be aware of some common rules about its use, available channels, and the way of conversation. For the widest range and finest signal, choose a stationary-mounted VHF transceiver that works with an external antenna. However, if you're used to sailing not far from shore, handheld models can also work for you just fine, although they are relatively less powerful.
With one of our marine handheld VHF radios, you will feel safer. Their transmitter output power ranges from 2.5 to 6 Watts approximately, which is enough to cover several miles. Meanwhile, most of our models are floatable and resistant to water. If you suddenly drop this device into the water, it will keep on functioning and start flashing allowing you to find it quicker at night. Besides, our radios boast good functionality including preset channel scan, weather channels, charging via USB, etc.
