If the ventilation system on your boat is not performing in a proper way, it is time to consider looking for a more efficient substitute. Stainless steel deck ventilators are usually available in mushroom configuration, thus being easily opened and closed. Deck ventilators come in a variety of sizes, featuring mosquito nets and waterproof qualities. Shell ventilators take their name from a characteristic clam shape and are screwed directly onto the hull either vertically or horizontally. Free flow area of shell deck ventilators normally ranges from 3 to 6.4 square inches. Cowl vents have large up to 19 square inches flow area, manufactured from flexible PVC that is considerably safer than rigid materials and thus ensures long service life of the unit.
