It goes without saying that such vital and expensive navigational equipment as marine radars should be properly installed and reliably mounted. When it comes to mounting an external antenna, there are multiple options that depend on the vessel's configuration, type and weight of the radar, and your own preferences. There are certain requirements in terms of the minimum and maximum height of the radar, which influence your ability to see not only far objects but also smaller targets located close enough. But anyway, the beam coming from the radar should not be obstructed by other onboard equipment.
