Attached to the bow or transom of a boat, a trolling motor offers fishermen numerous benefits allowing them to control the boat in a more precise, smart manner, without spooking fish. For maximum convenience, many trolling motors come with lever-locking brackets enabling you to secure the motor in the needed position or remove it when necessary. Meanwhile, pretty much any trolling motor is electric and requires a reliable and safe power connection. If you're going to take off the motor once in a while for maintenance or other reasons, it makes sense to install a plug and receptacle enabling you to disconnect the cable quickly and easily.
However, given the marine environment and weather elements, plugs and receptacles responsible for powering the motor have to meet certain requirements related to their tightness, corrosion resistance, amperage rating, mounting place, etc. Unfortunately, these connectors are not universal and may feature various designs and a different number of wires. For installing a receptacle, you're likely to need a vertical surface with a hole of a certain diameter, but in some cases, just a quick-disconnect wire attached to the circuit breaker and battery terminals is the finest option.
